Q: Tools to put into car trunk?
What are some good tools to put into the trunk of a new car? This would be for a car in Chicago, so winter would be a factor….
A: AAA card road service card $50.00
Q: acura ‘89 legend. is it a good car?
im a high schoool student looking to buy a new car. i heard acuras are good. and i stumbled accross a acura 1989 legend coupe. is this a good car? any reviews or anything on it would be very much appreciated!!!
also does anyhone know where i could find govt seized cars in chicago?
A: They’re a 20 year old car that’s slow and a gas hog. Look elsewhere.
Q: Whats the best auto loan rate to apply for? I live in Chicago. So far I was approve for 7.9 APR on $17,000 car
Capital One approved me 7.9 APR on a new $17000 car. Well, is there another financing company that can beat what they gave me? If so then I will apply for thier loan. I have very good credit and a decent job plus I live with parents, so I have no bills except cell phone bill.
A: You might be able to beat that rate. I know a young lady in California that landed a 5.2% interest rate on a $10,000 car. It all depends on your credit score. You can get that score for free.
Also make damn sure you know the value of this car. Is it really worth $17,000? You can find that out for free also at the Kelly blue book site.
The more you know the less you will get hosed…
Q: what kind of car would be good for a city like chicago.?
I’m hoping to to go college there next year.
but i need a car that is suitable for the conditions that i may face in the winter and what not.
my first choice is an eclipse((a couple years older, not brand new))
or something that has the same type of look. so if you know of something that has a similar appearance and would be good for the weather in chiacgo…please help!!!
A: Depending on where you are going to school you may not need a car. But if you do get one, try from a small one, NOT brand new, because your bumpers will get trashed from parallel parking. I think an Eclipse is small enough, but how does it handle in the snow? With the salt shortages and budget cuts this year, lots of streets weren’t cleared right away, and there is no way of telling if that is going to happen again next year. Just something to consider. Also, you may want to avoid a manual transmission, there is nothing worse than shifting in and out of 1st gear for an hour and a half in rush hour traffic.
Q: Who will replace Bobby Labonte in the No. 71 car at New Hampshire?
It has been confirmed that Bobby Labonte is leaving TRG to drive for Robby Gordon Motorsports at New Hampshire and James Finch’s Phoenix Racing at Daytona and Chicago. Gordon later found out that Labonte was available to drive for his team, so he made that change.
http://www.nascar.com/2010/news/headlines/cup/06/23/blabonte.quits.trg/index.html
A: Andy Lally, has a one-race deal to drive the No. 71 car. Dan Stillman will be the crew chief.
I don’t know who is going to take over after Loudon….
Q: pros/cons relocating to CHICAGO? w/out a car?
i hear chicagoans (sp) have great pub. trans. system? true? i have a car but HATE driving – can i make it in windy city w/o my car? also what are some good, affordable ‘burbs to live in, close to city so i can commute to work?
what are basic pros/cons of living in chicago in general?
I’m from New Jersey ‘burbs….single female in my 20’s
A: Yes, Chicago is an easy city to be carless in. If you live in the suburbs, find where the Metra stations are, and choose a place near one. You can walk to lots of Metra stations, and if you want to drive a short distance, almost all of them have park-and-rides. Metra has service comparable to most of the NJ Transit lines (roughly hourly during the day, more frequent at rush hour).
In the city, there are ‘L’ stops within walking distance of most neighborhoods, and buses serve the entire city well. CTA is both loved and hated, but they mostly do a good job. The only real problem is that if you are taking the train from one part of the city to another, you pretty much have to go downtown to get anywhere. CTA isn’t nearly as frequent as the New York subway (trains are about every 5 minutes at rush hour, 10 minutes during the day, and 20 minutes late at night), but it will get you where you need to go.
Q: New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles?
I want to build the world’s first green theme park. I aspire to make every ride generate electricity. The ferris wheel, whirling dervish, looping starships, revolving gates, merry-go-round, carousel, tilt-o-whirls, and bumper cars could produce energy via centrifugal force. I want a gym with treadmills, stationary bikes, and turning cranks for restless children to do the same. Water rides could have stream engines that produce electricity, moreover. The blenders from all the smoothie bars and the waste vegetable oil from the restaurants can fuel the rides. All the building rooftops could have solar panels and helical wind turbines. I even want the restrooms to generate electricity with methane digester toilets. Therefore, anytime someone takes a crap, they’ll be providing power. Solar water heating, eaves, daylighting, ice coolers, passive ventilation, and rainwater collection would be everywhere. No green theme park can come without a green space. This idea encompasses a large biodome with several exotic species. I want the entire output of this place to be equivalent to that of a power plant. Then several other theme parks can adopt this principle. Alas, I must decide where to do the groundbreaking. My first choice would be in a city where cultural diffusion spreads. Therefore, it would have to be either New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles. Which is the most sensible location?
A: i say Chicago cuz i live here haha. but i do think chicago would be good because theres alot of different cultures here.
Q: Is there a rental car company that lets me pick up a car and drop it off in another city?
Im just wondering is there a possibility to rent a car say for example in new york and drop it off in chicago like you can do u haul trucks? Someone please help me figure this out.
A: There are many car rental companies that allow you to do so. Even I would say almost all of those will let you travel within different cities. I preferred to use an Australian local car rental company you can see it here http://www.AustraliaRentCar.com which also has the facility of global car hiring. And as par you requirement it also provide pick drop of cars in different cities. So you can choose it as an option.
Have a Nice journey…..
Q: Where to get iPass velcro stickers in Wisconsin?
I just bought a new car and am going down to Chicago for Memorial Day weekend. I’d like to grab a couple of those heavy duty plastic velcro strips so I can attach it on the windshield of my new car. Any idea where I can find them in Wisconsin BEFORE my trip or will I just have to wait and try to get them somewhere in Chicago?
If someone can confirm xtina that the velcro she mentions is the all-plastic kind and not just heavy duty fabric velcro?
A: Wal Mart, K Mart, Target, Michael’s Craft Store and some drug stores have heavy duty Velcro in their craft aisle or office supply section.

How many miles is it from Cleveland to sandusky, ohio by car?
How far is it from Chicago to Sandusky, OH in miles on road?
If you hire a car in chicago and drive do you go past cleveland or is it a different/more direct route to sandusky?
Please help
A: I recently took this vacation, I live right by chicago and I got there by car in about 8 hours. It will save you quite a bit of money to drive and belive me that you will be spending a lot of money once you get there
mileage is 288.7 Miles and trip takes about 4 hours driving nonstop but I had a pregnant wife at the time that had to stop every 20 minutes
It would be faster by car considering you don’t have to wait to check baggage, board your flight, go to baggage claim then rent a car. Sure the flight my be only a couple hours but you’ll spend longer in the airport dealing with security and getting and checking baggage then driving

Q: I got a legal question regarding Tinted Windows on a car?
I’m from Chicago and got my car windows tinted like five years ago when there was no fine or punishment regarding tinted windows. After the first of the year they enforced a new law that the drivers windows cannot be tinted and if they are you have to scratch the tint off in front of the police officer and may recieve a ticket. Since I got my windows tinted before the law went into effect can I plead “Ex Post Facto”?
A: No, since they did not write the law for you. What you need to look for is a Grandfather Clause that lets those who had it legally, get to keep it legally.
Edit: No, TD, it is so the police can see the driver.
Q: Can I get help with finding apartments in Chicago?
I’m moving to Chicago in a week to start a new job which is located in S Dearborn St. I need to find an apartment which is kinda close to the place that I work so i don’t have to travel for too long to get there (I don’t have a car). I’d prefer a nice neighborhood – safe and secure. And I don’t want anything too expensive either. I hope I don’t come across as being too picky…Can someone please help me or give me some good advice on how to accomplish this?
A: OK, if you’re moving in a week, you probably should have nailed down housing a long time ago. Anything could happen in a week and you might find yourself here without a place to stay.
But anyway, forget about living downtown near Dearborn. It’s expensive and unless you plan on closing a deal on a condo or loft in a week, you won’t be living there. Look further out. You can find some nice, decent apartments with reasonable rent (maybe $700 for a one bedroom.) in several neighborhoods.
Nowhere in Chicago is totally “safe and secure”. True some are safer than others, but there have been rapes and attacks in some of the “good” neighborhoods like Lakeview and Lincoln Park. You just have to learn how to be self-aware and how to get around in the city.
As far as getting to work, Chicago has decent public transportation and you can get to downtown from almost any point of the city easily. YOu can take a train or a bus and be downtown in 30-45 minutes. In fact, most people take the train or bus to work downtown. I do.
As far as places to live, try the links below., They list the various neighborhoods. Click on the neighborhods and you can see the aveage rent, type of people who live there, photos, etc. I’d suggest, Edgewater, andersonville, parts of Uptown and Buena Park, Ravenswood, etc. If you see something you like, come back here and ask.
But you really should have begun this search for a place a long time ago. Sorry to be a downer, but you need to find out about a city as big as Chicago before jumping into it. This isn’t some little hick town. You have to do your research. Good luck.
Q: Do You Need A Car?
I want to move to Chicago, I have a car that is paid off but old and not reliable…I can’t pay to have it moved there and don’t want a new car payment so I’m wondering if being w/ out a car will really be a miserable thing?
A: No you definitely don’t need a car, especially if you live in the city. I moved to Chicago with a car and it was more of a pain to have it (due to parking mainly) than to not have it. Everything is very walkable and easily accessible by train or bus.
Q: I am moving to New York in about 4 weeks ? Where should I live – NJ, Manhattan or Queens
My office’s current location is Manhattan, but the office might move to Queens. I live in suburban Chicago, and have no clue about NY city life. People suggested I should live in NJ. How much would be a studio in say Queens. I have a new car, I am planning on selling it too.
A: If the office may move to Queens, you don’t want to live in NJ. It would be a long commute. A studio in queens may vary around a thousand to twelve hundred or so depending on where it is. There are one bedroom apt’s in that range as well.
Don’t be so quick to sell your car, it’s not too hard to keep one in queens.
