Q: Are there any Model Railroaders out there that collect MTH Illinois Central passenger trains?
I collect “O” Gauge MTH Illinois Central Cars and engines. I presently have a set of ABA E6’s and E8’s. and a full consist for each engine set.

I also have a Rail King RS2 and about 20 cars of various road names.

Has anyone had quality issues with their MTH Engines? I have had the E6’s and E8’s in the shop at MTH.

to be active on, is an excellent source. Otherwise it is free to scan around.

Q: In Illinois, if your car is photographed, who or what is guilty?
In Illinois, if your car is photographed, going through a red light, not paying a toll at a toll booth, or speeding, as examples, is the owner of the car responsible, or the driver? Does the state have to prove the case, or the owner/driver?

A: All of those tickets go to the registered owner of the car. In those cases they will take video of the car performing the infraction and even if you prove you weren’t driving you still have to pay the fine. The tickets aren’t a personal issue citation so the infraction doesn’t go on your driving record, its an administrative ticket kind of like a parking ticket.

Q: wife was rear ended and i have no insurance we live in illinois and car insurance is required?
My wife was on her way home from work and was stoped at a stoplight when a car hit her from behind and we have no insurance but witness reports say the other lady is at fault will my truck be fixed by her insurance
i am working on getting insurance now once i get a estimate they will cover it

A: Yes, you don’t have to worry about anything.. but dude, get insurance.. you could get in big trouble one day .. what if you got in an accident that was your fault/your wife’s fault and totaled someones car? You’d have to pay out of your pocket or get sued. Insurance may be expensive but its a lot less expensive than paying for tickets, jail time, or a car accident.

Q: Can an Illinois resident temporarily in California buy a car in CA and register it in Illinois?
I’m a resident of Illinois temporarily in California for 3 months. Can I buy a car here, but register it in Illinois? I want to take the car back to my home after 3 months.

If possible, how should I do it? Should I mail the forms or something similar?

A: That only works for military. If you live in/work in the state 30 days, you have to register in CA or risk a ticket. When buying in CA, the plates stay with the car. You might only get caught if you end up in one of their safety inspection road stops or get caught speeding. Call DMV or Hwy Patrol for more detailed info.

A: You should be able to without a problem http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/

Q: In the state of Illinois is it illegal to drive a car without a rear bumper?
I drive a car where the bumper is hanging off on one side. I didn’t hit any thing, someone must have hit me for this to happen. I am going to be responsible and take it to a body shop to get an estimate, however I worry that I can not afford it, and hence I ask would it be illegal in the state of Illinois for me to drive a car without a rear bumper.

A: Go to your home improvement store and buy some zip ties. They are like $1 for a package and you can get them in different sizes. Find clip or connection (screw) holes in your bumper and on your car and zip tie the bumper back into place. These ties can hold the bumper on forever.

Q: In Illinois is it illegal to park your car overnight on a neighborhood street?
In Illinois is it illegal to park your car overnight on a neighborhood street? Or is it legal some days? i.e. weekends?

A: Depends on where in Illinois. Naperville has an ordinance forbidding it.

Q: What should i do this happened in illinois? Car accident.?
I am driving down a street. It a 4 lane road and I stop at the red light beofre the white line. On the other side there is this guy who drives a truck and his trailer which is attached to his truck hit my car. Then he doesn’t file a claim with his insurance company and he expects me to pay for the damages. All i want is the ticket not to go on my record.
Then when i was in the court the police report said that,
There was 3 cars invovled yet the 3rd hasn’t come forth? For damages or anything. It also said something about green light on my side but it was really red. It also said that i was still going but i was waiting at traffic light for a while.

I was braked at the light and if i was going forward wouldn’t i move a lot more then if i was braked?

What should i do?
If you need more info or need me to explain what i am saying.
Contatc me at: rpm810@sbcglobal.net or AIM at KingZark

A: You need to explain all this to your insurance company (you do have it don’t you) And let them help you fight this. Was there any cars behind you also stopped…if they didn’t come forward you can try putting a personal ad asking for anyone who witnessed the accident.

Good luck

Q: Necessary steps to buy a car from a private seller in Illinois?
I’m in Illinois and I’m going to buy a car from a private seller. I would like to know the necessary steps (like paper works I should have after paying the money) I need to take. I just do not want to get scammed. Thanks.

A: First of all, before you buy any used car from a private seller, make sure you take it to an independent mechanic to make sure it is in proper working order.

You will give the agreed upon payment (Cash Check, Money order, etc). They will also get a copy of the bill of sale, which should include include the car you are purchasing, the VIN #, the names addresses, and signatures of both parties, and whether it is sold ‘as-is’ or with a warranty.

You will leave with the vehicle, the signed title from the seller, and the original bill of sale (mentioned above).
You will not get to keep his license plates (nor should you ask for them).

Q: Repo car dealers in bloomington illinois?
where can i go see some repoed cars in bloomington illinois?or are there any free repo sites i can go to?

A: usually we send them to private auctions

Q: Where can I find Illinois regulations for cars?
I want to know what modifications my car be ticketed for.
For instance I wanted to drop the ride height of my car in the summer but I don’t know where to find the limits so I don’ t get a ticket. So, is there a booklet I can pickup at the DMV?

And yes I’m aware that :
- lowering the ride height more then 1.5 inches is bad for the car
- I have to pass emission standards
- there are decibel limits on engine and stereo noise
- Window tints cant be too dark in the front
- Tuner body kits usually attract cops
- Modification affect insurance and warranty
