Q: How can I go from Chicago to Fort Meade …?
without using any car ? Obsviously, the quickest and cheapest way. I think there is no airport in Ft Meade …
Thank you in advance.
A: If you’re talking about the military base in Maryland, I think the closest airport and train station are both in Baltimore, or maybe Washington DC. Check with Amtrak, Greyhound, or Southwest Airlines.
Q: About my loan with my car as collateral?
I took a loan from my bank and used my car as collateral to secure that loan. In order to pay off the loan can I voluntarily give my car up to the bank? I know they can repo it if I dont make the payments and I have been up to now, but can I just give up the car to the bank of my own volition and have the loan be paid off? The amount of the loan was based on the value of the car I used as collateral. I want to get rid of my car anyways and I’m willing to do without one for a while. I live in the city part of chicago so public transportation is universal over here.
A: This is what will happen if you voluntarily turn-in the car:
They will charge you repossession and storage fees and then sell the car. The sale will be for far less than the loan balance, plus you may incur auction fees and legal fees as well. In the end, you will have no car and still owe thousands. In case I forgot to mention, your credit record will show a repossession (without a note about voluntary repossession).
If you are contemplating this, please don’t! Sell the car if you can to satisfy the loan balance if you no longer need it. Trust me, they will take you for a ride if you turn the car in. Good luck!
Q: If Christ Came Back Would We Recognize Him?
Seriously. What if he decided to come back as a black man from Chicago? Or maybe a Nicaraguan woman? Or what if he had sold used cars in California before he began his ministry (After all, Christ was a carpenter, a decidedly middle class profession)? What if his teachings didn’t neatly fit into your traditional religious views?
I’m not being facetious. How would you know?
Let’s assume, by the way, that Gabriel’s Trumpet doesn’t sound. He just comes to earth to start his ministry again.
A: If I came back to Earth, would you recognize me?
Q: Los Angeles to Chicago?
how many hours does it take to get to Chicago if you live in Los Angeles
(using a car)
A: i have made the drive in 2 days – driving between 12 and 14 hours, about 10 mph over the speed limit. And I do not take breaks unless i have to, which means only to get gas! Good luck!!

A: You can probably get a used Neon SRT in that range beware the condition though.
Q: Where to find??
Where to find a good cheap driving school in Chicago?
Should I buy a use car or should I go to school?
A: no idea
Q: Eclipse or Pontiac g5?
I am going to be getting a new used car in a couple months and I was wonder which car is better
Here are the details
Cars::
2001-2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse (depends on the deal on which generation)
2007-2009 Pontiac g5
My Location::
Suburb of Chicago but with a speed limit of 45 miles per hour from my apartment to my school
Price Range::
Up to 13,0000
I know the g5 has better gas millage but I have also heard negative aspects about it also. I am also wondering if the eclipse can take regular gas?
Which car should I get?
A: The Eclipse is the better car and both cars can run on regular.
You should get a Mazda 3.
Don’t get a Saab, Volvo or an Audi, as suggested above. You’ll spend all of your money on repairs and maintenance.
Q: I have to go from Chicago to Detroit for 2 days next month.?

My question is which is better for me, To rent a car or use my own car.
Which will be cheap for me?
Which one is better for me?

A: It’s an easy trip to drive. As long as your vehicle is in good shape, you won’t have any trouble at all.
Q: What are some fun things to do within walking distance of the L?
We are coming to Chicago this weekend (8/17-8/18). We are looking for any ideas, like bars, shopping, tourist stuff, restaurants, etc. Things that make Chicago the best city in the world. We won’t be using a car, so we are relying on the L. The only things planned so far are ESPNzone and Wrigley Field for a ballgame on Saturday. There are 4 of us, ages 21-32. Any ideas would be helpful.
We will be starting from the Blue Line in the Ohare area, and are wanting to go wherever we can to make for a great Chicago weekend.
A: What L? which one? Where? There are eight different elevated train lines (Red, Green, Blue, Brown, Purple, Orange, Pink, Yellow) that travel from one end of the city to the other, far south to far north, far east to far west, even to some ‘burbs. There are many el stops with something to do near them. You have to narrow it down.
OK, here are some el stops that have a lot to do near them. It should get you started. Let’s assume you will be starting in downtown Chicago, near State Street…
Take the Red Line north to the North Ave. stop. There are lots of shops, restaurants, etc., in this busy area. Walk a block north and stroll down Clybourn Street or walk west to a few bars, restaurants and shops. Go place a bet on a horse at the Mud Bug offtrack betting parlor.
Take the Red Line north to the Belmont stop. Lots of shops here as well, bars too. You can go east and west of the station and find lots of things to do.
Take the Red Line north to Addison. This is the Wrigley Field stop. TOO many bars and restaurants here to name. Take your pick.
Take the Blue Line train west to Damen. This is Wicker Park. The so-called hip-trendy area. Hip bars, clubs with live music, pick up joints, small restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
Take the Green Line west to Conservatory-Central Park Drive stop. Go see the Garfield Park Conservatory (right by the el station). Lots of cool plants, a nice garden in the back.
Take the Red Line north to the Berwyn stop, get off, walk downstairs, take the Foster bus to Clark street (ask someone if you’re not sure). This is Andersonville, a small homey neighborhood with a Swedish heritage. Some nice bars, restaurants, shops. To get back, just reverse the trip. You can also get here by taking the Clark Street bus north from Wrigley Field.
Take the Red Line south to the Cerman/22nd street stop. This is Chinatown. Eat Chinese food, buy some trinkets at the shops.
There are lots of other things you could do too by riding the bus, but that might get a bit more complicated. Stick with the trains and you will have plenty to do.
Q: Any suggestions for good light weight stroller?
I am looking for an easy light weight stroller for a boy or netural we use it alot so it needs to be dependable we live int he city of Chicago and we go out almost everyday and don’t use are car we use that like once a month if that. i am looking one easy to move in crowded areas. and for long walks please send links or name of stroller.
A: I think everything is about trial and error, I tend to do a lot of research on full size strollers, so I can’t help you with lightweight. One Lightweight stroller I’m interested is by BabyPlanet, they’re very cute and because they’re based on animals, it can be unisex!
They have added a lot of beautiful strollers to their line so you can check them out here: http://www.baby-planet.com/products/Default.aspx
Most of them hold a max weight of 60 lbs, and can be recycled when you’re done so if you’re earth conscious this is perfect.
I personally have no boundaries for the whole color thing when it comes to the gender of the baby. I think any color should be fine (besides pink…) for any gender! So sorry if you find some of these masculine/feminine.
Here’s a list of other strollers in a range of prices you may be interested in: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3502257

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3692931
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2585640 (I tend to find that the closer you are to an umbrella type stroller, the harder they are for pushing or steering.)
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3604032 (This seems to be rated high for good maneuverability)
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3609402 (As I’m sure you will see, some strollers may be rated as lightweight, but to a parent they are heavy. You should keep this in mind on how lightweight you want your stroller. You can usually tell by looks on how heavy it will be, but some strollers use light materials.)
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3980777 (This might be perfect for maneuvering in between people.
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3420853 (This may also be perfect for crowds, but keep in mind, what do you want when your walking. Something to store water/food? Can you carry a purse and be okay with it? This on the other hand does not seem have bad reviews on maneuverability.)
Good luck!

Q: Will LA ever be as walkable as San Francisco, Chicago, Boston or even NYC?
I gotta say, I recently visited LA without a car and knowing that the city is heavily built around cars and not pedestrians, I thought I would absolutely look ridiculous walking around, but after I got off the train at Union Station I was able to walk around downtown and west of downtown just fine; The 720 rapid transit bus, took me along Wilshire which is beautiful and for the most part walkable boulevard, and all the way to Santa Monica where I was able to walk around as well. Then I went back downtown and took the subway to Hollywood and then to Universal Studios, visited the park and then went back, all without having to use a car.
Now, I know that’s the richest and most developed strip of the city, and south and east LA are much much worse in all regards including walkability, but considering that prior to 1990 the city had no subway/light rail whatsoever and now it has several lines and more are being constructed, as well as the city’s density is increasing, it seems to me in 15-20 years it’ll begin resembling a walkable city…?
What do you think?
A: Idk I really don’t care for california. but i love nyc and chicago but i think you need a car in chicago too. but not nyc. don’t care for boston either. i grew up in cali and i always needed a car there.
Q: Buying my first car?
I want to buy my first used car with my Tax return and wanted to know if anyone can tell me where to look for a car?
-Im working with a lil less than $2000
-I live in Chicago
-I dont want to finance/ Loan
A: I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera that I bought a year and a half ago for $1000 and I’ve put about 10k miles on it.
Over the years, the public has set the Accord/Camry on a really high pedestal (not for any especially good reason), and so they cost alot more to buy used than they should. I would suggest a 1995-1996 Cutlass Ciera or a 1995-2000 Buick Century (which was the same as the Olds in ‘95 and ‘96).
Pros:
Very Reliable
Comfortable
Good gas mileage(I got 29 mpg on highway, with the AC on and going 85 mph)
Cost thousands less than Accord/Camry w/ same mileage and year
Safe
REALLY cheap insurance(mine’s $400/yr, I am a 16 year old male)
Just about the easiest cars to work on, with the cheapest and easiest to find parts.
Cons
They aren’t exciting. They aren’t slow, but many would find them boring
But I’m happy with mine. Great car.
My advice as to where you can find such a car: Craigslist.
And as they will always tell you, get a mechanic you trust to look at it. That is the most important part of the whole process.
Good luck.
Q: Help with simplest form!!?
I just learned this stuff today but my teacher didn’t really teach soo here is the problem. Well this goes with the problem. Chicago:$300 Boston:$375. New York holds the number 1 spot when it comes to the cost parking your car. Use the graphic (which is the Chicago boston thing) to express the cost of parking a car in Chicago as a fraction of the cost of parking a car in Boston in simplest form.
I need help!!
Please help if you can!!
Thanks a BUNCH!! sl. That helps me out. My teacher doesn’t teach anything so I am stuck on my homework!!
A: Chi/Bos = 300/375 = (75*4)/(75*5) = 4/5
Chi is 4/5 the cost of Bos.
Q: short trip from Chicago?
Is there any place I can go sightseeing
from Chicago in a day?
For example, Wisconsin or Indiana…
I can’t use a car. I can use only Metra or Amtlack.
A: If you like shopping, take the Burlington Northern out to Naperville, IL. Make sure you get off at the Naperville downtown station, not the Route 59 station. There are tons of cute shops as well as name brand stores (Eddie Bauer, Williams and Sonoma, Barnes and Noble) and a ton of great restaurants. The Metra station is an easy 5-8 block walk to the downtown area. There is a Riverwalk Park that was built along the Dupage river. You can rent paddle boats on the pond. If you get out here while the weather is still warm, bring a bathing suit. There is a huge pool that was built out of an old quarry in the park. Or your blades–there is a small skate park and miles of paths to bike, walk or blade on. If you like history there is a living history museum called the Napersettlement. It’s a few block out of downtown on Aurora Avenue, but if you don’t mind you can still walk there from downtown.
My only other suggestion would be to take the Metra up to Grayslake or Round Lake. I’m not as familiar with those areas, but it looks like the Metra goes up there. Google the chamber of commerce for both cities (or see if they have a visitor’s bureau) to see what there is to do. The city might have their own website if there is a lot of tourism there, and they may have a map that shows how close the train station is to the popular activities in the area.
Because these areas are right in the Metra lines you can go out an come back in a day. There is also an Amtrak train that goes from Union Station in Chicago to downtown Milwaukee, but I’m not familiar with that area either. I did go through Milwaukee the train once coming from Minneapolis to Chicago and I remember the station looked like it wasn’t in a very good area of town. You would probably want to take a cab to get around and that starts to add up, dollarwise.
Just remember you can be a tourist in your own home town. I keep trying to convince my husband of that. You can go to any town in America, large or small, and make a vacation out of it. My stepkids went to a wedding in the middle of no-where Missouri and found out that Walt Disney grew up there. They got to tour his childhood home and the farm where he grew up. So pick a spot on the map that you can get to and from in a day, then to a search for things to do and see in that area.
