Q: Does Chicago offer a green tax credit?
I’m interested to find out what organizations, if any, are pushing for Chicago to have green tax credits regarding rooftop gardens, hybrid cars, building rehabilitation. Also, what states currently have these credits in place.

Thanks!

A: These folks will tell you all about it!

Q: Can Chicago Give You a Ticket on Private Property?
I received a ticket for “no city sticker displayed” while I was parked in my condo building’s parking garage. I noticed a lot of other cars had tickets on them as well. I flipped a few over and they were all for the same thing. Is it legal for Chicago to enter private property and issue tickets? If so what statute made this legal? Thanks for the help.

A: Just pay your ticket and go out and buy your new city sticker and stop being a little crybaby about it.
You thought you were so slick by not buying a city sticker for HOW MANY years and now you get caught for being a scofflaw and a sneak and want to try and WEASEL your way outta the ticket?!?!?!

Grow the *$#@ up.
People like you disgust me.

Q: travel time and gas prices from Chicago to Dallas?
We are traveling from Chicago in a midsize car to Dallas. What is the travel time and the approximate cost of gasgoing one way?

A: well about 15 -16 hour drive and as for gas
once you get away from Chicago it will be a bit cheaper $3.04 where i live(40 or so miles south of Chicago) so depending how many miles you get from your tank it would cost about $80- $100 your best bet is to fill up south of the city

Q: What are some of the dumbest actions you have seen Chicago police do that they shouldn’t have done?
I have lived in Chicago my whole life and I HATE the police cause they get away with too much sneaky s***, I have heard stories on the news about someone that was getting beat up to death and Chicago police did nothing to help or they just sat there and watched in their cars and when the fight was over they just drove off. Thank God I have never been arrested in my life.
I will be so happy when Christ returns!!!!!!!!!!!!

A: 1968 when they stopped bashing in hippy heads. Good times that.

Q: Which of the following cars is the best?
Which of the cars listed below are: a) Most fuel efficient b) Have the best 0-60 c) Best for year round driving (Chicago Winters) d) Most reliable/fun to drive?

Scion tC
Nissan Altima Coupe
Honda Civic SI
Mini Cooper S

If you have other suggestions (COUPES ONLY) that are reasonably priced and are better for my needs then the cars I have listed, feel free to post them.

A: The Altima Coupe with the V6 is the fastest of the cars you list to 60mph (it’s the only one that can run under 6 sec to 60mph according to Car and Driver magazine among others) and is most likely the best in the snow too thanks to a heavier V6 over the front wheels and decent ground clearance (compared to the Mini or the Civic Si anyway). The 4 cyl version of the Altima coupe is not as fast as anything other than maybe the Scion tC on your list.

The most fun to drive car IMO would be the Mini Cooper S, but I really like light quick little cars. The most fun to drive car is probably a subjective decision you’ll have to make for yourself. As for reliability I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them but historically BMWs (Mini’s parent company) tend to have slightly more minor problems than the others you list FWIW.

For fuel efficiency I believe the Mini is rated the most fuel efficient of the 4 by the EPA, but the Civic Si wouldn’t be far behind the Mini for fuel efficiency in real-world driving. The Scion would be next, then the Altima.

Q: Was Obama Responsible For The Removal Of Police Horses In Chicago?
Someone said they saw Obama punching one of the Police Horses in Chicago, now they don’t have Police horses. What does Obama have against horses exactly? Maybe he would like camels better? He obviously doesnt want us to travel in cars, said he wished the gas prices went up more gradually.

A: Perhaps you haven’t noticed, buy Obama’s wife from the waist down looks like a horse. She even walks like a horse. Maybe he saw a horse that reminded him of Michelle and decided that since he couldn’t take her down, he’d take it out on the poor horse. Maybe that’s why Chicago no longer has horses in their police department – Michelle was jealous that Hussein would fall for one of them. I mean, he apparently fell for her….

Q: Can you park behind your garage in Chicago?
In Chicago, can you park your car behind the garage even if you are not blocking the alley?

Q: need a cheap direct way from chicago ohare airport to nw indiana?
Need the most simplistic route to indiana state line from chicago ohare airport… rental car too expensive! Cab fare is pushing it… is there a direct train that would take me from the airport to anywhere in nw indiana?

A: These answers are all kind of right.

If you fly into Midway you are already ahead of the game. The airport is much, much smaller. It’s also closer to Indiana with less traffic.

Google Chicago Metra and look at the routes and schedules. You’ll take the Metra in to Ogilve Station. You can then walk two blocks to the Amtrak station. (It’s a quick two blocks. I’ve done it by myself with kids + suitcases.)

The South Shore line runs East through North West Indiana. In some essence it runs parallel to the Indiana National Lakeshore. It will be cheap and comfy.

Check out the two sites to navigate your own trip. Warning though if you are not an experienced train rider: TRAINS RUN LATE.
If you do travel Amtrak – buy your ticket when you get to the station (or you can on board). Your flight may run late, Chicago Metra may run late, and Amtrak will run late.
Also, your Metra ride shouldn’t be more than $5.15 one way per adult. Also, they do give a 50% military discount.
Good luck to you. Bundle up for those two blocks too!

Q: How much would a road trip from Chicago to Washington DC cost a group of 4 people?
I am going to do a road trip from Chicago to Washington DC! We are renting a car, but I just don’t know how much it would cost for tolls and gas from Chicago to DC. I was also wondering if we can take a longer way without having to pay tolls!

A: AAA has a gas calculator on their website, also go to a AAA and they can map out your trip for you for free if you’re a member

Q: Is Chicago a good day trip for children?
Can you suggest things we can do with our children in Chicago? They are 4 and 9 years old. Also, we were thinking of taking the train into chicago. Can we get around without a car? We have never been there and have no idea where things are.

A: With a 4 and 9 yr old you are probably going to want to stick to one or two places for the day.

The Museum Of Science and Industry has great variety….only trouble it is not easily accessable ( quickly ) by public transportation…you would do better to drive there. It is about a 10 to 15 minute drive from the Loop, south on Lake Shore Drive.

Navy Pier has the Chicago Children’s Museum…designed for young children…..it also has other activities….it is kinda like a state fair/carnival all rolled up on a long pier.

The Shedd Aquarium would definitely be enjoyed by your kids.

The other 2 museums nearby…Field ( natural history ) and Adler Planetarium are probably just a little too above your children at this time, especially the 4 yr old.

As to train…Metra has for many summers had a program where kids ride free…don’t know if it has kicked in yet, call and ask. Once down town at the main Metra station ( Ogilvie
Transportation Center is it’s officialy name ) you can access just outside the station or about a block away a boat ride on the Chicago River that will take you over to Navy Pier.

Speaking of boat rides, over by Michigan Ave near the Wrigley Building you can get boat rides on Lake Michigan.

Fianlly, I believe outside the Metra Station downtown you can catch the Trolley…free, yes FREE, transportation around the Loop and over to Navy Pier….it just started up last weekend, and runs daily. Mayor Daley started this some years ago and it runs just in the summer.

A place for eating that could be enjoyed by your kids might be Ed Debevic’s…..at Ohio and Wells I bielieve, just a couple blocks north of the river. It is a 50’s hamberger type place, with waiters/waitress that will be silly with you…. the older you are they are more “rude.”…..all in FUN and you are to give it back to them…..and every so often they get up on the soda fountain counter and do a song/dance to some Rocknroll.

There is also the Sears Tower or Hancock for a view….a cheaper ( FREE ) in-door only high view is in the State of Illinois Building ( The Thompson Center, in the Loop ) It has an open atrium like center, you can take the elevator up to whatever the top floor is ( 10 maybe 15, I forget) and look over the side…as well as into the open office areas that surround all the way around the center. And on the ground floor is a large cafeteria with many different types of fast food eating establishments…

Enjoy Chicago with your kids.
