A: Its a piece of crap that’s used to draw you into the auction where you buy something so they can make a fee. (Or someone thats 18+)

Most cars at public auctions look like great deals but are really big problem cars.

I used to get more at dealer only auctions than public auctions. The only buyers at public auctions are clueless public and a few really, really low end dealers who have full time mechanics.

You cant buy a car from a business at 16. A private party might let you.

You need cash upfront.

And stay away from auctions. The car probably has a bad engine, bad transmission or both or it would have sold long ago.

Q: Are Police Auctions on Automotive Vehicles Real?
I was just wondering if those sites saying you can buy a car cheap at police auctions are real or scams? I know police auctions EXIST but I am not sure if there is a real website, most just ooze of scam.

Does anyone know where I can sign up to go to one of these auctions or maybe the URL of a REAL police auction website? Thanks!

P.S. I am in Chicago, so if you know if the Chicago police in specific holds these it would be an even better response…….

A: They’re real – but don’t expect to get a real deal on a great car. Everyone knows the auctions exist, and they’re well attended. The cars are as-is, as impounded…. not necessarily in the best shape. You’ve got about a 1:10000 chance of getting a great deal on a great car.
