Q: How many full gallon tanks would it take to get to las vegas from chicago in a compact car.?
Im trying to figure out How much I will be spending.

A: It’s approximately 1748 miles. Assuming you get 28 miles to the gallon, thats 62.4 gallons of gas. At $3.10 per gallon, it will cost you $193.50. Plus wear and tear on your car if /when it breaks down. Plus food, beverages, and a place to sleep. Multiply that all by 2 if you are doing it round trip.
Bottom line, it’s cheaper to fly!

Q: i am trying to rent a car witha debit card from chicago to california and back home can this be done?
i am trying to take a road trip i do not like planes did the train and bus wow. anyways so i dont have a credit card anymore…so i need a car rental that accepts visa debit, has unlimted miles and no statre restrictions to get to california and back to chicago

A: It can be done with your visa debit card as it will act as a visa… but as for taking the vehicle out of the state not a lot of rental companies allow that. I would suggest you call a couple of them and ask, you’ll most likely be successfully using a car rental place based out of the airport.

Good luck and have a safe trip!
Take Care!

Q: open a car wash in chicago?
I want to open a car wash in chicago. Do I need a special license ?

A: You will need a “Limited Business License” if you are a car wash. Just go to city hall and they will have the paperwork and details on the rest. But that is the only license you need to wash cars.

Q: We are going from Chicago to Louisville on 09/07/10 and need to rent a car?
probably at O’Hare airport? so that on 09/09/10 when we are back from louisville to Chicago, we can return the car and get public transportation/subway back to Corns cob tower area. Any suggestions? We don’t mind where to get the rental car but as long as we can get on subway to go pick up and back on 09/09

A: Renting a car is a good option when you need the ride for more than one days. Other options like cabs, trains are OK but still have some restrictions. Contact this http://www.switzerlandcarsrental.com company for a good car renting facility. As can be seen by name it is a local car rental company for Switzerland but it also has the option for global search. so you can find for your locations also.

Good Luck….. :)

Q: Will my car be ok after sitting in Chicago for 3 weeks?
My car has been at a parking lot at O’hare since December 20. It is uncovered and fully exposed to snow and cold. It is a 1998 Toyota 4Runner. It normally runs perfectly but I am very nervous that it wont start when i get back tonight. I have de-icer in case my doors are frozen shut but other than that, nothing. Any advice or reassurance that I will make it home?

A: If it has an older battery, or if something is providing a constant electrical drain (like an alarm or something left plugged into the lighter socket etc) then you may have a dead battery. That’s not a big deal, the airport staff will be able to give you a jump start. Go put some high octane gas in it on the way home since the gas that was sitting in it may have begun to break down a little. Sitting for 3 weeks is generally not long enough to cause any damage and there is nothing in your car that can’t hold up under freezing temperatures other than an old battery.

Q: Picking someone up from Union Station in Chicago, somewhere I can park my car in the meantime?
My boyfriend is taking the train to Chicago and I’m going to pick him up around 10:30 am. I was wondering if anyone knows a place where I could park that’s a decent distance (I’m not looking to be right in front of union station, we can walk a bit) from the train station and where I don’t have to pay. I know this is probably a lot to ask but if anyone has any ideas, even if you have to pay, just let me know. Thanks.

A: Right across the street on the opposite side of canal street there is a huge indoor parking lot where you can park and i think if you get you ticket validated its free there is a small Indian restaurant/cafe there called The Village where you can go and buy a coke and they will validate your ticket and you can park for i think its 45 mins.

Q: where can I drive my own car on a race track around Chicago, Indiana or Wisconsin?
I’m looking to take my car and drive it on a road course or speedway. Not for a race just for time trials.

A: Road America, Blackhawk Farms, dozens of little 1/4 mile ovals everywhere… Of course it helps a bunch if you are in a car club that does track day events at one of these facities. Renting the track and getting the necessary insurance in cost-prohibitive for the average person going it alone.

Q: I live in Chicago and I want to sell my car. I already have a buyer but what else do I have to do?
Do I need to keep my plates? I´m not going to buy another car. How do I transfer the title?
Do I have to do anything else?
Thanks!

A: Don’t forget to send in a release of liability, in case the buyer does not register it in a reasonable time. This tells the state that you have no interest in the vehicle. Keep a second bill of sale for yourself.

Q: Where can I buy a car load of pumkins in the Chicago/lower Wisconsin area?
I am throwing a Halloween party this year and we are having a pumpkin carving contest. I wanted to buy all of the pumpkins before the party and since there are going to be around 60 people I wanted to buy a car load of pumpkins (its cheaper) but the only place I have found online was Thompson’s Strawberry Farm but they say they are all out this year. Any other places anyone knows of?

A: Try Bengston Farms. It costs to get in because they have haunted houses and petting zoos and stuff like that, but you could make a day of it with some friends and at the end go to the big pumpkin patch they have and get your pumpkins *you could recruit your friends to help you too*.

Q: How would I get from DePaul University in Chicago to NIU in Dekalb…without a car? (trains? busses?)?
Hi, I go to DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois and I want to visit my friends at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois. The thing is since I am living in Chicago, I don’t have a car here. I would like to know if I could take trains or busses or something that would get me as close as possible to NIU…without like walking there or hitch hiking…

A: The Greyhound bus goes right from Chicago to downtown DeKalb. From there, you can take a NIU bus to the school campus. It takes about an hour and 45 mins. and costs between $30 and $35 round trip. I did this for many years when I was a student at NIU.

Q: Can someone tell me the cheapest way to ship my Car from Hawaii to Chicago?
Thanks !!

A: Welcome to Chicago!

Q: About how many hours is Spring Valley away from Chicago by car?

A: use mapquest. Give to address and it will tell you exactly. If you don’t have a precise address just use one in the same location it suggests to you.

Q: Is it legal to live in your parked car on the streets of chicago?
So this guy is living in his van and its annoying me he pees in a cup and emptys it out the window (i don’t even want to know where he does his #2). It’s been an ongoing thing for 2 years now and I keep calling the police but they don’t do anything. I don’t understand. Is there anyway i can get this guy to move somewhere else.

A: Ask Chi_Guy.

Q: UK to Chicago car hire?
can anyone help me rent a car in chicago, i dont know much about renting and i dont know how much it will cost, but i am going for a month and i need a cheap car hire for around £500

can anyone give me some tips or guide me?

A: Chicago is a HORRIBLE place to drive if you don’t know your way around and if you aren’t used to lots of traffic! Parking is terribly expensive. Public transportation, on the other hand, is very, very good, and quite modest in cost. I suggest you skip renting a car.

Q: i live in the chicago suburbs. I want to know where i can legalize a car that i want to take to mexico?
im leaving to mexico so i wanna know where (in the chicago land area) i can legalize my car? or is it just in Laredo?

A: Not sure what you mean by legalize….you will need extra insurance to take it over the border so that it is covered while there, this your local insurance agent should be able to take care of. However I am not sure if you would be able to take a USA car permanently into Mexico or to leave it there or sell it there. Here is a link that should be helpful – http://www.nmborder.com/vehicle.html – here is another link that may also be helpful – http://www.exporttrader.com/ – another link – http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Export_car_to_Mexico – some of these groups should be able to answer your question better.
