Q: what is it going to cost me to take my personal car from chicago to the phillippines.?
i will be living in the phillippines for about 3 years.

A: Shouldn’t even think about it!!!!!!!

Most people don’t even take their cars to Hawaii because it is so expensive…and besides in PI you can buy a new car cheaper than you could even consider shipping….

Q: I Saw car at the Chicago Auto Show. I Don’t know what kind of car it is. Can anyone help?
It’s small silver convertible with an orange symbol on wheel. It has doors that flip up. And it’s next to an orange car that looks similar to it. It was by the Audi and Infinity cars. Does anyone know what car I’m talking about?

A: Yes!
It is called the Yes! Roadster.
Yes! is the manufacturer.
Roadster is the model name.
Here is the link to the picture.
It has around 255 HP from a V6 engine.

Q: how do I find a car rental place in chicago with bad credit?
I have already tried hertz and enterprise. I have a bank card with a mc logo and checkstubs. I cannot believe how hard it is to get a rental around here!

A: Enterprise….they are around the city….they are a little more expensive than budget or alamo, but at least you can rent something….good luck…you will need access to / at least 300 in your bank account with a DR card and some will be frozen…

Q: where can i get a low cost auto mechanic to replace my car oxygen sensors in chicago area?
2003 Jeep Liberty Limited. 3 O2 sensors need to be replaced.

A: If your under 80K miles, should be an emission warranty item. No charge at the dealership.

Q: What is a good suburbia neighborhood to live in the Chicago area?
I am planning on relocating for a job west of Chicago (Melrose Park area) and would like to know of what areas are good to live in surrounding there? Also is it crazy or too much hassle to try to commute (whether by car or Metro system) from Chicago (downtown) to that area?

A: Elmwood park, River Grove, and the Mount Claire neighborhood which is within the City limits are good beceause the Metra Station is within walking distance or the drive to the station is relatively short. They are all quiet neighborhoods with moderate traffic, good schools and plenty of places for shopping for what you need. Not much to do but its a good place to raise a family and still be within a 1/2 hour commute to Downtown.

Q: Do the sidewalks in chicago have weight sensors?
When I was walking in Chicago, I noticed there are no buttons to press when crossing the streets, but whenever I walk on the sidewalk incline when no cars are around the don’t walk sign turns to walk. Do the sidewalks actually have weight sensors or is it just my imagination? I notice sometimes that happens in my hometown of Columbus too.

A: No they don’t. The lights are timed, letting the heavy traffic street have a longer green light.

Q: What’s up with cars with power plugs sticking out of their hoods?
I am visiting Whitehorse Yukon Canada from US and I noticed that there are quite a few cars with power cords sticking out of their radiator grills upfront. I’ve never seen anything like that in Chicago where I am from. Are those rechargeable running on electric power? That can’t be…

A: They are block heaters. In the winter it gets cold and the engines wouldn’t start without being pre-heated so to speak. The starter wouldn’t be able to turn-over the engine to create spark.

Q: Where to park overnight in Downtown Chicago?
My family and I are heading out to Chicago, IL this weekend. We are staying at 111 W. Adams St. in Downtown Chicago. This will be our first time going. We will have rental cars, but where do we park them overnight? Thanks in advance.

A: If you can find an open spot, you can park for free on Adams between S. Wells St. and S. Clark St. from 6PM to 6AM. If you are willing to leave that early this could work for you otherwise you will likely be in a pay lot. I would recommend not having a rental car. It is so much cheaper to take cabs, trains, and buses or walk than to pay for a rental car and parking. Anywhere you drive the car in the city will require you to pay to park it there too.

Q: Rental car locations in Chicago, Illinois or Great Lakes, Illinois – Is there any place that you can be 18 .?
We are going to visit my fiance in Great Lakes he is in A School and we are going for the 4th of July weekend If the Lord says the same !!!!!!!

If anybody knows please email me or answer this please !!!!

A: alot of places will rent if youre 20 or 21 but it is way more expensive…..i havent seen any that are 18 but call around or check online….but be ready to pay alot!!!

Q: Is it ok not to rent a car to travel in Chicago? Can I take bus there such as in NY?
By the way, what are the famous places that I can go in Chicago in April?

A: The El and buses will take you pretty much anywhere you want to go. Renting a car would actually be a disadvantage because it is very difficult to find parking in many areas. I have found that by the time I drive anywhere and park, I end up more frustrated (and walking more) than if I’d have taken public transportation. In most cases, I prefer to avoid the headache and take the el. Also, taxies are everywhere. Another reason not to drive is that you can’t look at anything en route. There’s so much to see and you miss it all when you’re driving.

Q: Where is a good place to park and ride into Chicago from the west?
We are taking a family weekend getaway to Chicago and I was wondering where a good and safe place would be to park our car and ride into downtown Chicago. We are coming from Omaha, NE. I don’t want to pay $40 for downtown parking, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!

A: Since you are coming from Omaha, I would assume that you are taking I-80 across and then I-55 up to the city. In that case, you could park at Midway Airport and take the CTA Orange Line downtown. You would not want to park in the CTA lot, but rather the economy lot for the airport since the CTA lot is only for daily parking. You might also consider using one of the third-party airport lots like http://www.parkrideflyusa.com/mdw-chicago-midway-airport-parking/ or do a search for “Midway Parking”. The next best option I can think of would be to drive north on I-294 to I-90 east and park at the Cumberland stop on the Blue Line. There is a huge parking garage there for $12/day.

If I had more information on where you are staying, I could give more advice on how to get to your hotel on trains and buses. You could also use the trip planner function at http://www.transitchicago.com . Usually it gives good routes, but it can be off sometimes.
